SENS Magazine: A New Voice in North African Art

Something new is happening in Tunis. SENS Magazine has officially launched its first print issue, introducing a bold and thoughtful voice in contemporary art from North Africa.

Meet SENS

Founded in 2022, SENS is a creative and cultural initiative that acts in favor of arts and culture, offering greater recognition and support to emerging North African artists. Built and produced in Tunisia, SENS reflects a generation of creators who are redefining how art is made, shared, and understood from the Maghreb to the world.

SENS is an independent magazine focused on visual arts and contemporary creation in Tunisia and across North Africa. It highlights, explores, and shares artistic practices while connecting creative communities across borders, from Algeria and Morocco to the Maghrebi diaspora.

A Cultural Platform with Purpose

Beyond publishing, SENS acts as a complete cultural ecosystem. Through workshops, exhibitions, and public debates, it fosters dialogue, collaboration, and critical thinking around art. It also functions as an intermediary hub for Tunisian artists, helping them bring projects to life through exhibitions, residencies, and digital showcases.

At the heart of SENS is a belief in broadening artistic expression and perspective. Its editorial focus explores collective memory, identity, archives, and artistic journeys, revealing how creativity interacts with history, society, and selfhood.

In just a few years, the team has documented over 50 visual artists and supported more than 20 through dedicated programs. Around 40 percent of these artists are emerging voices, while 60 percent are established figures shaping today’s cultural landscape.

SENS Digital Art Space

SENS extends beyond print with its Digital Art Space, a virtual gallery that showcases Tunisian and North African artists to a global audience. The platform also serves as a cultural media outlet featuring a calendar of local events, in-depth articles, exclusive interviews, podcasts, and editorial productions that highlight the richness of Tunisia’s cultural scene.
